Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is launched with the under-the-display hidden camera and other amazing features. There is a lot to talk about the new Galaxy Fold 3 and will talk about everything in this post. Samsung reveals 4 new products, like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, Galaxy Watch 4, and the last Galaxy Buds 2.

Display and Body.

Let’s start with a big display, I mean a folding display. Samsung says that this display is 30% tougher than last gen. The display is 1768 x 2208, 7.6 inches foldable dynamic AMOLED 2X with HDR10+. The display is still weak and it gets scratch with your nails. But the new thing is there new under the display camera. It’s a 1st gen but still, Samsung brought something new in the smartphone. The display uses Gorilla Glass Victus and they claim to be 30% stronger than the last 2 folding phones.

The new thing about the folding 3 is under the display camera and the new 120hz refresh rate. The camera technology is still 1st gen but compares to Axon 20, it’s pretty good. Let’s not talk about the camera and start talking about other things. The display supports HDR10+ that you should expect from an $1800 phone. This time fold 3 can support the stylus but you have to buy a new one. The Stylus has a feature to use both Z fold and S pen to use normal note series and folding series.

Now time to talk about the cover screen. The 6.2 inches small Dynamic AMOLED display is an 832 x 2268 120hz panel. It’s as good as a folding display and there is a selfie camera to use. It’s good and usable but most of the time you will be using that big display. The display is gorilla glass victus so, same as the folding one. Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 is now officially IPX8 water-resistant up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.

Performance and Memory

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has the best Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. SD 888 is the fastest and more reliable chipset out there. The performance is great and you won’t be disappointed by that. Android 11 is out of the box and also One UI 3.1.1 is available. Samsung’s UI is the best, user-friendly, and easy to use. It’s a clean-looking smartphone with something new in it. For the gamers out there, thair is Adreno 660 GPU and it gives the best gaming performance on both displays.

Although India doesn’t have 5G connectivity. But I’m pretty sure that 5G will work very well. 5G is yet to launch in India or other countries. Other than 5G, fold 3 does have WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC (Near-field communication). Now let’s talk about memory, Samsung is still not giving a card slot in folding devices. There are two variants the first one is a 256Gb with 12GB Ram and the second is a 512Gb with 12GB Ram. Samsung is using the latest 3.1 UFS storage to enhance speed and performance.

Cameras

The main focus of the Samsung was the cameras or a particular one under the display camera. Total cameras in Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is 5, except for the under-display cameras they all work well. Let’s start with the main cameras, all three cameras are 12 MP. Those three cameras are as good as any other Samsung flagship smartphone.

The first camera is a 12 MP wide-angle with OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer). The second is a 12 MP telephoto with the OIS and 2x optical zoom. The third is a 12 MP Ultra Wide Angle with a 123˚ viewing angle. Samsung image processing is good and they give punchy and vibrant pictures quality. Sometimes you get oversaturated photos because of image processing. Some like’s that kind of photos and others don’t.

Video in Samsung Z Fold 3 is as good as Note 20. The Samsung Z Fold 3 can record video in 4k@60fps. That is the best Samsung can offer. Others are 1080p@60/240fps and 720p@960fps super slow motion. Video clarity is pretty good and with OIS you get the cinematic video experience.

The last two cameras are for selfies. The one on the cover screen is 10 MP wide-angle with no OIS. And the other is in the folding screen, under the display 4 MP camera. Well, the cover screen camera is the camera you use for selfies because under the display camera is not that good. The under-display camera is the first-gen camera. The picture quality is not that good and you can see the rainbow color in the light. It does that because of the display pixel deficiency. Only on the camera side, if you can see closely you will notice the pixels are missing. That is because of the under-display camera.

Features

Other features are of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. And gem packed with sensors like accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, etc. I also prefer a physical fingerprint rather than an under the display fingerprint. And now Bixby can speak normally. Bixby’s work on Samsung devices is very good. Other than Bixby, Samsung Dex can allow the desktop experience to users. Samsung Pay is as usual work perfect.

The battery is slightly small. It only has a 4400 mAh battery, so I’m not sure it will last longer than one day. Because it has two 120Hz displays and 5G connectivity. Samsung fold 3 can support fast charging. It can support 25W fast charging and 11W fast wireless charging. It can also charge you Galaxy buds via reverse wireless charging. That is that for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 for now. I will be uploading detailed Specification posts soon.

Price:

$1,799 and $1,899 (US)

₹1,49,999 and ₹1,59,999 (India)
